Friday the Monarchs traveled to Licking County to face the Settlers in the last series of the season. Despite holding a 4-2 lead going into the eighth, the Monarchs blew another close one at the end, falling 6-5 against the Settlers. The loss moves the Monarchs to 11-22 on the season. Mike Inselmann started for Lake Erie, throwing 6 strong innings and allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk. Dan Parsons threw the final 2 innings, earning the loss to move to 1-1 on the season. Parsons allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and 4 walks. Once again the Monarchs were led by Kolbrin Vitek on offense, who is making a strong case for Great Lakes League MVP. Vitek went 3-5 with a run scored and 4 RBIs. He fell only a triple short of the cycle. The homerun was his fifth of the season and third in the past week. Zach Lammers also had a strong showing, going 1-1 with 2 runs scored and a walk. The Monarchs face the Settlers again on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 4:00 in Newark, Ohio. | Line Score | | -Team- | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E | | Monarchs | 0
