Lake
Erie Monarchs Baseball/Catholic Athletes for Christ, Inc.
Do you have room in your house for a college baseball player that is coming to Northwest Ohio to play baseball for the summer? The Lake Erie Monarchs greatly desire your help. We are a summer college baseball team and a ministry of Catholic Athletes for Christ. We are based in Michigan and play home games at Ned Skeldon Stadium. Our players are Catholic college baseball players from the Midwest. We play in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, one of the top Leagues in the Country. Over 600 of our League’s players have gone on to Professional Baseball.
The Monarchs have had 39 former players move on to professional baseball since 1999.
Those interested in becoming a host family should expect to provide a comfortable place for the player to sleep and store his belongings. The players are required to live under your rules and be respectful of your family and family activities. Players provide their own transportation.
The season starts June 13th and runs through August 4th. When staying at your home, players are expected to buy their own groceries. A host family may wish to invite the players to eat dinner with them, and that is appreciated but not expected. The players are often at the Ballpark by 3:00pm in the afternoon or traveling to an away game by 2:30pm, so spare time in the evening can be scarce.
If being a host family interests you. We would love to hear from you. Please call us if you have any questions. Who knows, you could be the adopted family of a future major league baseball player.
